Our Story
Cosy Lantern Books began as a simple idea at our kitchen table — to use stories as a way of helping children make sense of the world around them. Between school life, friendships, worries, and big emotions, we realised how much children experience even in their earliest years. We wanted to create stories that gently explore those feelings and show that it’s okay to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow along the way.
That’s where Molly came in.
Molly is our golden cocker spaniel, full of warmth, curiosity and bravery in equal measure. Through her adventures, we help children understand some of the challenges they face — from finding courage when things feel scary, to learning about kindness, honesty, sharing, and loss. She’s small but determined, much like the children we write for.
The Family Behind the Books
Cosy Lantern Books is a true family project.
Martin is a filmmaker and storyteller by trade. He brings the visual magic to our pages — the light, colour, and cinematic feel that makes every story feel alive. Katie has over 27 years of experience in primary education and knows exactly what engages young minds. She guides each story to make sure it connects with real moments children face — at home, at school, or in the playground.
Freddie and Ollie, our boys, are the spark behind so many of Molly’s adventures. They remember every beach walk, every funny thing she’s done, and every moment that could turn into a story. They help us keep each tale full of imagination and mischief — exactly as it should be.
Our Mission
Our goal is simple: to create stories that help children grow emotionally and socially while feeling safe, seen, and understood. Each book touches on something familiar — friendship, fear of the dark, jealousy, confidence, honesty, patience, empathy, belonging, bravery, kindness, resilience, inclusion, sharing, and love.
We want parents, grandparents, carers, and teachers to find stories that open gentle conversations. We want children to find a friend in Molly — a friend who listens, learns, and always tries her best.
What’s Next
We’re only at the beginning of this journey, but we have so much planned. More stories, more lessons from Molly, and soon, a whole range of Molly-themed treasures — from cuddly toys to prints and keepsakes.
